Nina Vaca spoke on a panel at the Mayor’s Star Council’s Leadership Summit, Engage Dallas, March 9 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
At her second panel appearance of the day, Vaca, Founder, CEO & Chairman of Pinnacle Group, shared her insights about leadership, along with Kathy Doyle Thomas, Executive Vice President of Half Price Books and Lyria Howland, President of Howland PR and Founding Chair of Friends of Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. The session was moderated by Alfreda Norman, Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Vaca discussed how becoming a next level leader requires investing in both performance currency and relationship currency.
The Mayor’s Star Council is an independent initiative made up of local leaders between 25 and 40 years old, who have taken the mayor’s challenge to be civically engaged in the issues the city faces, rather than inheriting them in the future.
The summit kicked off with a discussion between Robert Kaplan, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and Ambassador Ron Kirk, former United States Trade Representative and Mayor of Dallas. Tracy Merzi, publisher of the Dallas Business Journal, moderated the panel about the local and regional economy.
The closing speech was given by Olympian and Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, who served as the first female head coach to lead an NBA or NBA Development League team.
